Sometimes a full repair is not needed - just the right part. At Underwoods Appliance we make it easy to find the appliance parts you need near Burlington, Iowa. Whether you are a DIY homeowner or you just want a quick fix on a Saturday morning, we stock and source quality parts for many major brands.
Here is the part most shops will not put in writing: our cost is your cost. We do not mark up parts. What we pay the supplier is what you pay us. No parts markup, no shop fee buried in the invoice, no guessing at what the real number was. We make our living on labor, not on reselling a $19 lid switch for $60.

Parts We Stock and Source
We keep the common wear items on the shelf and order the rest through our suppliers. We have specific experience with Whirlpool and GE, and we can get parts for many major brands beyond those two. Here is the kind of thing people ask for most.
Laundry Parts
Belts, drain and circulation pumps, lid switches, dryer heating elements, thermal fuses, door seals and pressure switches. Most laundry failures come back to one of these, and most of them are a reasonable job for a homeowner with a nut driver and an hour.
Refrigeration Parts
Thermostats, defrost timers and defrost heaters, door gaskets, ice maker components and evaporator or condenser fan motors. Sealed-system work is a different animal and needs EPA certification, which we hold, but a lot of fridge problems are none of the above.
Cooking Parts
Bake and broil elements, surface elements, igniters, control knobs and oven sensors. An oven that runs cold or will not hold temperature is very often a sensor or an element, and both are inexpensive parts at our cost.

How to Get the Right Part the First Time

Find the model and serial number
Look for the data plate. On a washer or dryer it is usually inside the door frame or under the lid. On a refrigerator, check inside along the wall or behind the crisper drawer. On a range, look behind the storage drawer or on the back panel. Take a photo of it with your phone.

Call or text us with it
Send the numbers to (319) 800-8495 and tell us what the machine is doing. Not spinning, not heating, leaking from the front, humming and then quitting - the symptom narrows it down as much as the model does. Texting is fine and often faster than a phone call.

We source it at our cost
We order the part and pass along exactly what we paid for it. You can pick it up at the shop in Washington and install it yourself, or we can bring it out and put it in. Either way you see the real price of the part.
Our Cost Is Your Cost
We are an owner-operator shop, not a chain. Marking up parts is the easiest money in this trade and it is also the reason people feel taken advantage of when the bill shows up. So we do not do it. You pay what we pay for the part, and if you want us to install it, the labor is roughly half what most companies around here charge - about sixty percent of the rates we ran as Whirlpool and GE technicians.
A service call including the diagnostic is $110 within 35 miles of the shop and $125 at 36 miles and up. Prices are subject to change, but we will always tell you the number before we start.
